Description
The Mercedes-Benz 190SL is a 2-door grand touring convertible with (optional) removable hardtop, produced by Mercedes-Benz between May 1955 and February 1963. A prototype was first displayed at the 1954 New York Auto Show.
The Mercedes-Benz 190SL was sold alongside the faster, more expensive Mercedes-Benz 300SL. Both types were very similar in terms of styling, technology and detailing. The Mercedes 190SL is often referred to as ‘the 300SL's little brother’, something that is easy to understand when you consider the similarities in styling between the two cars.
The Mercedes 190SL was powered by a new 105 hp, 1.9 liter straight-4 SOHC engine, which was later also used in the W120 180 and W121 190 models. of the 300SL.
The car was available as a convertible with a soft top or with a removable hard top. During the early years, the 190SL was available as a sport racing model with a small perspex windshield and leather-covered bucket seats and aluminum doors.
